Large Shuang Dao Swords
These Chinese double sabres with iron cup guards start to become a very rare item. The large pair of fighting sabres in very good complete condition. Also, the heavy set of swords measures 97cms in the scabbard, just over 95cms out with very good quality blades of 77cms.
The hilts retain original cloth wrapped grips and wrist lanyards with faded mulberry paper underneath the wrappings. The brass pommels and collars show a nice age patina as do the half circle, large iron cup guards. These half circle cup guards measure 11cms at the widest point.
The scabbard remains in healthy condition, it is a wire bound and laquered timber construction with brass throat, suspension fittings and drag, all showing nice patina. The blades are very good quality with triple fullering and deep graceful curves and clear distal taper from forte to tip. A very nice pair of large fighting sabres that remain in very good condition overall.
